How much maintenance is there with artificial grass?
There is very little maintenance with artificial grass, that is the beauty of having it installed. With artificial grass, there is no more watering or mowing, weed control or fertilising. Artificial grass is perfect with those who suffer from grass allergies and it’s both child and pet-friendly. Artificial grass has a typical life span of up to 20 years (depending on traffic) and you will need to only brush it twice a year with a heavy plastic bristle broom to freshen the look and feel. If leaves should fall onto your lawn, they should be simply removed with either a rake, outdoor broom or blower.
How much will it cost?
All pricing is calculated based on area and the installation also varies so it’s best to call us directly.
How will I know which grass is best for me?
Our grass will make you look twice before realising it’s not the real thing. We do have a few different lengths and the look will vary depending on the length and the colouring of the grass. For household landscaping we recommend getting a longer length, of say 35mm, this will give you a more volume and a more natural feel, we also have a few shorter lengths if aesthetics is not at the top of your list. For Example: If you had pets, but you don’t use your garden very often, then we would encourage you to get a shorter length grass, it won’t look as nice as the longer grass but it will be easier to maintain with your pets.
Will artificial grass harbour any insects?
Artificial grass has no organic value, therefore, the bugs have nothing to feed on and will move onto a garden with real grass. Insects have a hard time coming up through the drainage holes and will generally find an area outside the grass that has less resistance.
Is artificial grass mould resistant?
The synthetic grass fibres and rubber backing can’t absorb water, and the base is constructed to drain any excess water away, therefore preventing mould and mildew. In fact, natural grass supports the growth of mould to a far greater degree.
Is it flammable?
All our artificial grass is fire retardant and meets the minimum industry standard of fire retardancy.
Can you park cars on artificial grass?
Within reason, yes, but you need to increase the stability of the base under the grass by building it approximately 100mm deep and using a larger aggregate for the majority of the base. Please feel free to discuss your parking requirements in further detail with one of our installation specialists.
